"The Seventh Day" Boutique Hotel @ No. 59 Heeren St, Melaka

This is one of my first proposal submitted to the Faculty of the Curtin University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the BA(Hons) degree In Interior Design.

The Idea was inspired by Dan Hisel Architect-Heavy/Light House @ Cadyville, New York.

Design Solution:
The idea of a bridge and the idea of a house are fundamentally antithetical. The bridge is about conveyance: movement along a line, enabling safe passage from one side to another. As bible Scripture Our Lord Jesus Christ answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.(John 3:16-21) A house, on the other hand, is about coming to rest, stasis, dwelling. My Lord Jesus Christ said: 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Mathew 11:28-30) To combine bridge with house, to run them together, is to create a collision of principles, a tension between the dynamic and the static, between movement and repose. But the idea of a “guest house” spans both of these worlds. A house for a traveler is a place for a person in motion to come to rest.

Model Developing:"Habitable Bridge" can be described as the meeting point of two scales: the infrastructure and the habitat. At the same time the product of technology and sapient construction, as well as a combination of buildings-homes and shops that is an expression of domestic and sometimes vernacular building.

Design Developing:Genesis 2
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 By "the seventh day" God had finished the work he had been doing; so on "t h e s e v e n t h d a y" he rested [a] from all his work. 3 And God blessed "t h e s e v e n t h d a y" and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

"t h e s e v e n t h d a y" = TIME FOR REST

My Vision:
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you be will be able to test and approve what God's will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
