Reshaping future Dorm

This is my final dissertation submitted to the Faculty of the Curtin University in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the BA(Hons) degree In Interior Architecture.

The Idea was inspired by People + Pedagogy + Place.
relationship between the environment and how its impact to the quality of student's life and creativity corresponding potentialities for the interchange of ideas of students. In other words, the nature of research is generally the learning spaces are the sum of people(students), pedagogy(limitless lifestyles and learning possibilities), and place(future dorm). When they are combined in a way that's right for the institution, the possibilities can enrich teaching and learning for students, faculty, administrators, and the community. It points the way to a better world.

Quote:“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world” by Former President South African Nelson Mandela (1994)

The design of learning spaces is now acknowledged as having a powerful impact on student learning and engagement (Kuh et al., 2005)
-to cater a wider range of learning styles and learning desires. (Toynbee Wilson, 2002, (HEFCE strategic plan 2006-11, Updated April 2007:7)
-providing a range of learning opportunities to achieve limitless lifestyles and learning possibilities.
Pedagogical theories relevant to space
-Learning through reflection
-Learning by doing
-Learning through conversation

Design Solution:
Implementing New Living –Learning Environment
Innovative Learning Centre - “Building Architecture as a Learning Tool”
The future role of campus living environment in helping to advance the excellence of teaching, learning and research. It has the power TO HEAL, TO TEACH, TO INSPIRE, and TO UNITE. Giving students spaces that work for the ways they live and learn is the core of the contemporary innovative learning in built form.

Program Development
"Engaging Students: Using Space As A Tool To Connect With“ (Human Factors of Space: relationship between individuals and their environment—how they perceive space and how they react to it. Perception of one's environment is affected by sociological needs, psychological state, and individual differences. The environment itself also influences human behavior. Both mental and physical stimuli affect behavioral responses.)

Collaboration and teamwork promote creativity, problem solving, and productivity, and enrich ideas through a merging of minds and disciplines.

The design of interior spaces in a building has an effect on the level of social interaction and collaboration within a community of campus living environment. The well being, level of social interaction and collaboration within a community may depend on the architectural aspect of a building. (Herman Miller 2009).

Design Development:
The central spiral ramp becomes an “enforced” meeting point for social interaction and collaboration within a community of campus living environment.

Public Spiral Forced Interaction and communication to transform (inside + outside + above + Below)
Public Spiral Creates ( Inside + Outside + Above + Below) the ideal addition to the perfect circle will be a series of pedagogy programs that simultaneously wraps the innovative learning on the outside as well as the inside, above as well as below. by twisting the pedagogy program into a continuous spiralling path tracing the innovative on all sides, create an architectural organization that combines the virtues of all 4 complimenting models, like a continuous helix(mobius strip), the pedagogy programs move seamlessly from the inside to the outside and from ground to the sky providing spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and skyline.

My Vision:
Signaled the importance that should be given to improving learning environments so as to aid educational outcomes in Malaysia.

The concept of the learning centre is still evolving, usually blending with other previously distinct spaces to absorb more of their functions. Rethinking the learning centre has led to substantial new-build projects in universities especially, where this space is envisaged as the social and academic hub of the campus. More than a functional tool for accommodating daily, yearly and generational changes in use - the futureDorm is on the vanguard of changes in the way institutions of tomorrow will conceive of the pursuit, dissemination and conservation of knowledge. The motivation of learners is the ultimate end product. Achieving spaces that foster effective learning will require a holistic approach, including a dialogue with all key stakeholders. In future, we will live in a fully interdisciplinary world where the virtues of the physical university will be firmly re-established through the products of informal intellectual exchange and spontaneous collaborative interactions. The futureDorm will be a beehive of myriad complex interconnections, unplanned in the details of its configurations but ready to serve the future through its rich variability.

"All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful; The Lord God made them all." Praise, lord! for once i was lost and now i'm found. All the chances, strength and inspiration were given, finally i did it!!! Thank you, my Lord!!!

At the same time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends lecturers: Ms Laila, Ms Norizan, Ms. Christine, Mr. Andrew, Associate Prof. Marina Lommerse and all those who have helped whether directly or indirectly in the preparation of this research. All contributions are really appreciated and valued.

I do not know whether it's just me or if perhaps everybody else encountering problems with your website. It seems like some of the text within your posts are running off the screen. Can somebody else please provide feedback and let me know if this is happening to them too? This may be a problem with my web browser because I've had this happen previously.
